Join me behind the scenes for two colourful, chaotic days in the studio as I prep a new flamingo art collection, sketch a snow leopard, and navigate the real-life ups and downs of running a small art business.

There’s something magical about seeing a project come to life over a couple of days — especially when that project involves bright flamingos, a moody snow leopard, and the quiet chaos of running a small art business.
In this week’s vlog, I take you behind the scenes of two paint-splattered days in my studio. But this wasn’t just about prepping canvases or sketching wildlife — it was about showing the real, raw journey of what it means to chase a dream (especially later in life).
🖌️ Starting Fresh: A New Flamingo Collection
The first day began with a fresh stack of canvases and a head full of ideas. My new flamingo collection had been bubbling away in the background, and it was finally time to bring it to life. There’s something joyful about painting birds that are unapologetically bold and quirky — they’re fun, but they also carry symbolism for me: standing out, being seen, embracing brightness.
This collection is deeply personal. Like many people, I put my creative dreams on hold for years — life, motherhood, and practicalities took over. But art has a way of tugging at you quietly until you say, “Alright then. Let’s try.”
🎥 Art, Chaos, and Self-Doubt (The Usual Combo)
As any working artist will tell you, the creative process is rarely linear. There were moments of flow — and moments where canvases misbehaved, wedges didn’t fit properly, and I questioned whether I had time to finish anything before my deadline.
I also had a snow leopard painting to prep — and it reminded me how wildlife art challenges and grounds me differently than my more whimsical pieces. It’s the balance I love: structured detail alongside loose brushy freedom.
🐾 Marketing in the Real World
On day two, I headed out to hand out leaflets at the local dog park — real grassroots marketing. It’s not glamorous, but it’s part of the puzzle. Just like scanning artwork, editing photos for social media, and trying to name flamingo paintings with the help of my online followers.
Oh, and I might’ve made a slightly impulsive decision to launch this new collection in just 7 days. (Yes, I'm panicking a bit.)
🌈 Why I’m Sharing This
This vlog wasn’t about perfection. It was about sharing the messy, hopeful, occasionally ridiculous reality of trying to build something meaningful. If you’re a fellow creative — or someone who’s ever thought “maybe I’m too late” — this one’s for you.
