A Little Note About Valenween

I wanted to write this the way I’d tell a friend — because that’s how Valenween came about in the first place.

I’ve never been very good at loud versions of love. Big gestures, lots of expectation, the pressure to do Valentine’s properly… it’s always felt a bit much for me. I know I’m not the only one who feels that way.

Valenween started as a quieter alternative.
More of a pause than a performance.

Skelly holding flowers isn’t confident. He’s unsure, a bit vulnerable, and clearly trying his best — and that moment really stayed with me. There’s something very human about offering something without knowing how it will be received.

That feeling is why I made this piece.

When it came to the prints, I couldn’t bring myself to leave them as standard editions. It just didn’t feel right for this artwork. So I decided to hand-embellish a small number of Valenween prints myself — adding paint, subtle detail, and texture to each one, slowly and individually.

No two are the same.
Each one is finished by hand.

They sit somewhere between a print and an original — more accessible than a painting, but with that personal, made-with-care feeling that I love about original work.

This isn’t a big launch or a forever product. It’s a small, intentional offering just for Valenween. Something gentle. Something thoughtful. Something that doesn’t shout.

If you’re someone who:

  • feels deeply but quietly

  • prefers meaning over spectacle

  • doesn’t quite fit Valentine’s, but still loves

then this piece might resonate.

And if you’re buying it as a gift, it’s for the kind of person who would rather receive understanding than a grand gesture. The kind of gift that says “I see you” without needing lots of words.

Valenween belongs in quiet spaces — bedrooms, reading corners, places you pass through slowly. Over time, it becomes less about the season and more about how it makes you feel when you notice it on a calm morning or a difficult evening.

That’s really all this is about.

A small piece of art.
Made slowly.
Offered gently.

If it speaks to you, it’s there.
And if not, that’s okay too. 🖤🌹

If you’d like, I can:

  • shorten this for a newsletter

  • add a soft call-to-action at the end

  • or tweak the tone to be slightly more Skelly diary or slightly more Squorn artist voice

the soft call to action need to be added - espcially the the time limited emblllished prints (10th feb)

Of course — here’s the same friend-to-friend blog, with a soft, gentle call to action woven in naturally and clearly mentioning the time-limited embellished prints ending 10th February 🖤🌹
Nothing pushy, just honest and calm.

I’ll only be offering the hand-embellished Valenween prints for a short time.
They’ll be available until 10th February, or until they’re finished.

After that, this version of Valenween will quietly come to an end.

If it’s been sitting with you, if it feels like your kind of piece, you don’t need to rush — just don’t leave it too long.
