Horse eye study- line drawing
Free
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to paint a horse’s eye in oil paints.
You'll learn how to layer oil paint to create depth and achieve as much realism as possible. When painting a horse—or any portrait—the eyes are incredibly important. They bring life to the artwork and can change the expression, meaning, and emotional connection the owner has with the piece. That’s why capturing the unique details of a horse’s eye is a crucial skill for any pet portrait artist. Horse eyes are unique compared to many other animals, and in this tutorial, I’ll demonstrate my preferred approach to painting them!
📌 This is a three-part tutorial. This first part show you how I capture the underpainting to help me map out the tonal values.
